It was 2012 and I had just moved for the ninth time in one year. This time, it was to a slightly battered mansion on the edge of Auckland’s Domain, New Zealand.
Every morning as I left my room and headed downstairs, I was greeted by this suitcase.
At the time, this suitcase perfectly summed up what life was all about. Three things are sacred, it said. The journey, the people, the stories.
I was travelling and after 12 months on the road what more was there to life but the people you meet, the journeys you take and the stories you tell?
Ah-ha moments at home
Fast-forward 4 years and I’m back in Blighty and that suitcase STILL resonates. I had a bit of an ‘ah ha’ moment one day. Do you ever have those? It turns out, those three things are the PERFECT framework for marketing.
This is all it comes down to
What journey will you take your customers on?
What journey are they already on? What journey do they want to be on?
What’s your journey?
Who are you? As a person and a business. We care.
Who are your customers? As people. Care.
What stories do you need to tell?
What stories do your customers want to hear?
I’ve created a super simple graphic that perfectly sums this up.
What will your next story be?
