Every day I have this conversation in my head:
I have a great idea! It’s going to look amazing! There’ll be colour and simplicity, and a great font and…oh yeah, I don’t have Photoshop…or Illustrator. How much is a graphic designer again…?
And even though I work with a marvellous graphic designer, I would really like to be able to tweak my material, to conjure up a simple, spontaneous graphic by myself once in a while. Mostly because of time, secondly because the briefing process for something so small feels painful and actually, I don’t really know what I want.
Does any of this feel familiar? If so, you’ll ADORE Canva.com. It’s a web-based design tool that supplies you with shapes and fonts and templates allowing you to easily manipulate them into what you had in mind, and even create things you never thought possible!
It’s free to use with very affordable $1 (60p!) premium pictures. Many of the graphics on this site have been created using Canva.com.
There’s no way Canva.com can replace a trained graphic designer, but for small businesses, start ups or those with mean marketing budgets, it’s a very useful tool for small jobs that require fast turnaround.
I think it also makes you appreciate the art of graphic design! What do you think of Canva.com? Have you used it yet?
